A virtual piano made for MS-DOS, written in Turbo Pascal 7.0 with my custom game framework POSIT-92 in 3 days. Made for DOSember Jam 2025

This app has been tested in DOSBox-X ver.2025.05.03, which should work just fine on DOSBox 0.74 and js-dos

Features:

  • Virtual keyboard with keybinds identical to VirtualPiano.net
  • 3 playable octaves
  • Polyphonic output
  • Instrument configurator -- This has most of the AdLib FM synthesiser parameters
  • Saving & loading instrument presets (saving disabled on the web version)

Minimum specification:

  • PC with MS-DOS
  • 486DX 33MHz processor
  • VGA 256-colour graphics
  • AdLib/OPL2 soundcard
  • Keyboard

I was looking into DOS applications of a similar nature a few months back. This surpasses them all. Such a pleasant interface, truly a joy to interact with.

Really neat idea for a tool and it's amazing how many different instruments it is possible to create. If there would be a way to record and save a played song as an audio file, it would be absolutely incredible.
